Marantz je proizvođač i distributer visoko kvalitetne audio opreme. Prvi proizvod je projektovao i napravio Saul B. Marantz u Kew Gardens-u, New York. U to vreme, kompanija je imala veliki uticaj na razvoj Hi-Fi audio-sistema, obraćajući pažnju na svaki detalj pri projektovanju i konstruisanju. Sredinom 1980-ih dok je bio pod rukovods-tvom Philips-a (pionira u CD tehnologiji), Marantz je među prvima pravio CD plejere koji su jako dobro prihvaćeni od strane zadovoljnih potrošača i kritičara. Danas, Marantz nastavlja da pravi komponente koje su u samom vrhu Hi Fi ponude na tržištu. O tome svedoči i Ken Ishiwata bez čije kontrole i finalnog tjuniranja nijedan Marantz proizvod ne može da se pojavi na tržištu. Godine 2002, Denon i Marantz prave (D&M) grupu kojoj se kasnije priključuju i druga zvučna imena iz audio industrije.
The PM-15S2 uses the latest generation of Marantz-own HDAM modules, as well as a top-down version of the PM-11S2’s Constant Current Feedback MM/MC phono stage, which vinyl fans will simply fall in love with. The powerful Toroidal transformer delivers exceptionally high current values to instantaneously follow every dynamic and every detail of the music, while an additional CD direct input buffer ensures a completely unadulterated audio signal. In addition, the symmetrical circuit architecture, with system block shielding and independent left and right heat sinks, eliminates cross-channel interference for the clearest, most ‘visible’ of sound stages. One of the unit’s many convenience innovations is the special Power Amp Direct Mode, enabling you to use the PM-15S2 as a pure power amplifier - useful when combining a high-quality AV System with an audiophile stereo set-up. Also, with rigid double layer chassis, aluminium front and side panels, and an additional bottom plate to minimise external noise, the PM-15S2 is as solid as it gets. It all adds up to an extraordinarily high-quality stereo sound.

The popularity of audio compression may still increase, but listening to true HiFi you of course do with a combination of a high quality SACD player and 2-channel amplifier. Marantz doesn?t only keep the pre amplifier and power amplifier sections completely separately but also the volume control circuitry to prevent crosstalk and any other unwanted interference. When activating the Power Amp Direct mode you can use the power amplifier to drive your ?Front? speakers in a multichannel setup or for the use of stereo ?bi-amping? in more traditional HiFi. 3 Stage Circuit
The 2-stage amplification concept for main amplifiers or the 3-stage one for integrated amplifiers offers an extremely wide frequency range needed for the high resolution formats like SA-CD and DVD-A. In addition it influences the overall performance in relation to speed and accuracy. The first amplification stage is built into the pre amplifier followed by voltage amplification and the 3rd and final is the power output stage to guarantee high current output driving speakers more vividly and dynamically.
Current Feedback amplification is a well known, Marantz’ original circuit technology. The Current Feedback amplifier technology fits perfectly with the high requirements set for Super Audio software providing wide-bandwidth, high-speed reproduction. The impedance at the Current Feedback point is limited resulting in a very low phase shift. Marantz receivers and amplifiers equipped with Current Feedback can keep the phase compensation via Negative FeedBack (NFB) to a minimum, resulting in high through-rate, excellent transient response and superb sonic transparency for the full bandwidth. Unlike conventional Voltage Feedback amplification, the Current Feedback amplification makes the power amplifier in-sensitive to difficult loudspeaker loads.
Linear Volume Control
Linear volume control offers minimal cross talk with a very precise volume adjustment over a range from 0dB to 100dB with a gang error less than +/- 0.5dB.
Marantz developed its own discrete circuit boards to replace standard IC's. These HDAM's consists of discrete surface mount components with short mirror image L/R signal paths. Those devices are doing exactly the same thing as the Op-Amps, but outperform the regular IC Op-amps dramatically in terms of the Slew Rate and reduced noise level, resulting in a much more dynamic, accurate and detailed sound. Over the years Marantz developed different types of the HDAM to improve quality and to fit to the special requirements of a product category like CD or amplifier.
A Shottky diode is a special type of diode with a very low forward-voltage drop compared to normal diodes. This lower voltage drop translates into higher system efficiency. Shottky diodes have very fast signal handling, can easily stay higher temperatures and are sensitive very low voltages.
Symmetrical Circuit Layout
To achieve the best possible sonic performance, signal paths need to be short, direct and mirror imaged. The construction of our circuitry provides improved stereo imaging by ensuring close to perfect symmetry between right and left channel layout.
Toroidal transformer has several advantages over a normal EI core transformer. It is very efficient and therefore delivers more power compared to the same size of an EI core transformer. In addition, due to its shape, the electromagnetic radiation and the mechanical vibration are extremely low all ending in a better sound quality.
