Just like its predecessors, the Marantz PM6006 puts sound quality first. Usually the preserve of more expensive amplifiers, the PM6006 benefits from separate pre and power amp sections. Constructed from discrete components rather than the more usual integrated circuits, this gives the PM6006 an uncommon clarity and level of detail. Its toroidal power supply and large capacitors keep a tight control on speakers and gives music a generous sense of scale; far larger than you might expect from a 45W amplifier.

The PM6006 is an upgraded successor of the multi-award-winning PM6005. Of course, Marantz have retained the pre-amp and power-amp sections that exclusively feature discrete components not a single IC in sight of the signal path. The PM6006 is upgraded for peak current at the amplifier stage, which makes it possible to refine the sound for you in much more detail. You can connect this superb integrated amplifier directly to a vast range of digital sources and use its superior 24bit/192kHz high current CS4398 DAC to create an unbelievably high level of audio enjoyment with new media.
Furthermore, the unit includes now 2 optical and 1 coaxial digital inputs (an additional optical input from the predecessor, PM6005). And the complete digital section is fully shielded by an extra metal housing to ensure that the digital stage has no effect on the analogue signal. And of course all of the original features such as five-line audio input including phono, two-pairs of gold-plated speaker connections with the convenience of bi-wiring, and a remote handset are all still there. The lower impedance shielded Toroidal transformer, as well as customized components and unique Marantz HDAM modules care for powerful, dynamic and detailed original Marantz sound.

Current Feedback Technology
Current Feedback amplification is a well known, Marantz’ original circuit technology. The Current Feedback amplifier technology fits perfectly with the high requirements set for Super Audio software providing wide-bandwidth, high-speed reproduction. The impedance at the Current Feedback point is limited resulting in a very low phase shift. Marantz receivers and amplifiers equipped with Current Feedback can keep the phase compensation via Negative FeedBack (NFB) to a minimum, resulting in high through-rate, excellent transient response and superb sonic transparency for the full bandwidth. Unlike conventional Voltage Feedback amplification, the Current Feedback amplification makes the power amplifier in-sensitive to difficult loudspeaker loads.
On paper an electrical component might look excellent but the result may fall short of the combined design expectations. Marantz selects the appropriate components for the specific design application. In some cases it’s simply not possible to use standard components that meet the high Marantz standards. These components will then be specially made for Marantz in close cooperation with the Marantz engineers.
To optimize equipment in terms of ease of use, Marantz has designed the D-Bus system. Received remote control commands are communicated via this bus. This enables equipment without IR-receiver like tuners or hidden system together with an external IR eye to be controlled via the bypacked Marantz System Remote Controller.
A Shottky diode is a special type of diode with a very low forward-voltage drop compared to normal diodes. This lower voltage drop translates into higher system efficiency. Shottky diodes have very fast signal handling, can easily stay higher temperatures and are sensitive very low voltages.
