HEDD Type 40 System - 2 XTD
The TYPE 40 System is a digital, modular monitoring system built around the full-range TYPE 40 Main, an active three-way reference monitor. Developed for studios that need a compact solution that can provide more output, low-frequency reach, and listening distance than near field monitors without the size and complexity of a traditional large-format main system. By combining the TYPE 40 Main monitor with up to three XTD modules, studios can install the capacity they need today and expand later, as needed, while benefiting from a range of features including cardioid bass control, closed or ported, and time-aligned monitoring.
Configuration: One TYPE 40 Main plus one to three TYPE 40 XTD modules per channel
Drivers: 10¾-inch Ultra-High Performance Subwoofer; 2 × 4" midrange drivers; hand-built AMT
Power: 3 x ICEpower class D amps (700W LF, 300W MF, 300W HF) for Main monitor; 1 x ICEpower Class D amp for XTD module.
Frequency Response: 20 – 80 Hz (extends to 20 – 250 Hz in Cardioid with the Type 40 Main) at -3 db
Maximum SPL at 50Hz: 108 dB SPL at 1 m for the TYPE 40 Main alone
Frontfire Ported SPL gain at 50 Hz: +6 dB (1 XTD) / +12 dB (2 XTDs) / +15 dB (3 XTDs), relative to the Main alone
Frontfire Closed SPL gain at 50 Hz: No increase (1 XTD) / +6 dB (2 XTDs) / +9 dB (3 XTDs), relative to the Main alone
Shelving Filter: Level (dB) + corner frequency 40 / 80 / 120 / 160 / 200 Hz
Cardioid rear reduction: Up to approximately 10 dB in the rear hemisphere; range varies by mode and configuration
Single-XTD Cardioid range: Approximately 20 Hz-200 Hz with one Cardioid Closed XTD and the Main in full range
Multi-XTD Cardioid range: Approximately 20 Hz-100 Hz in mixed Frontfire/Cardioid configurations
Inputs: Balanced analog XLR (> 20 kΩ) and digital AES/EBU XLR; sample rates 44.1–192 kHz
Output: Analog XLR Through and digital AES/EBU XLR Through
System control: HEDD CTRL over Ethernet
Design: MDF cabinet, satin black matte paint, side M10 points
